Trinity College Women’s Lacrosse Rolls Over Eastern Connecticut State


Hartford, Conn. - Senior Carrie Disa (Wilbraham, Mass.) and sophomore Rachel Romanowsky (Hampstead, N.H.) scored three goals apiece to lead the Trinity College Bantams to an 16-3 win over the visiting Eastern Connecticut State University Warriors in women's lacrosse action this afternoon on Sheppard Field. 

Romanowski got the scoring started with a goal 1:09 into the game, and the Warriors immediately responded with a goal from junior Taylor MacDonald (Oak Bluffs, Mass.) to tie the game at 1-1.  Trinity would then go on a scoring spree, racking up six consecutive goals to take a 7-1 lead.  Freshman Nicole Shusdock (Norwalk, Conn.) scored for the Warriors late in the first half before Trinity followed that with seven straight goals to take a 14-2 lead.  

MacDonald added her second goal of the game to bring the score to 14-3, but Trinity would add two more before the final whistle for a 16-3 final score.  Junior Jennifer Calver (Barnard, Vt.), and sophomores Alisen Urquhart (Reading, Conn.) and Caitlin Irvine (Westwood, Mass.) tallied two goals apiece for the Bantams.

Trinity freshmen goaltender Stephanie Fisher (Brunswick, Maine) earned her first career victory in goal with four saves and classmate goaltender Avery Harries (McLean, Va.) finished the game in net, collecting a save.  Eastern Connecticut freshman goaltender Kristina Ibsen (Shelton, Conn.) made 11 saves in net. 

The No. 14-ranked Bantams will visit NESCAC rival and No. 19-ranked Bowdoin College on Sat., Mar. 14 at noon and travels to Virginia to face Washington and Lee on Tues., Mar. 17 at 4 p.m.
