Trinity Women's Lacrosse Wins Easily At No. 20-Ranked Mary Washington

Fredericksburg, Va. - The top-ranked and defending NCAA Division III Champion Trinity College Bantams jumped out to a 9-1 halftime lead and never looked back in a 14-2 victory over the No. 20-ranked University of Mary Washington Eagles on a cold and rainy Battleground turf stadium. The visiting Bantams improve to 3-0 with their 11th consecutive victory, while the Eagles fall to 3-4.

Trinity senior attacker Hadley Duncan (Rye, N.Y.) scored twice early to stake the Bantams to a 4-0 lead less than 10 minutes into the game.  Katie Williams scored on a free position for Mary Washington, but nine unanswered tallies by the Bantams, including three by senior tri-captain midfielder Megan Leonhard (Summit, N.J.), made the score, 13-1, with 11:42 left in the game.

The Bantams led in shots, 27-13, and limited the Eagle transition by forcing 19 turnovers. Trinity led in ground balls, 18-12. Trinity sophomore midfielder Caroline Hayes (Greenland, N.H.) notched three ground balls and three draw controls, while senior tri-captain goalie Olivia Whitney (Danvers, Mass.) made five saves.
