Clermont, Fla. - Sophomore midfielder Martha Griffin (Exeter, N.H.) totaled three goals and four assists to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 20-13 win over the McDaniel College Green Terror in women's lacrosse action this evening at the United States Training Center.  Trinity, ranked No. 6 in the nation, improves to 5-2 with its first win in three games, while McDaniel falls to 5-2.

Trinity never trailed, beginning the scoring with a goal by senior tri-captain attacker Kathleen Timmons (Branford, Conn.) 43 seconds into the game.  Bantam sophomore attacker Abby McQuillan (Medfield, Mass.) fed junior attacker Molly Cox (Norwell, Mass.) for a 2-0 lead moments later, but back-to-back scores by Green Terror Samantha Barbeito (Wolfsville, Md.) and Maggie Quinn (Crofton, Md.) tied the game at 3-3 with 18:27 left before halftime.

The Bantams answered with a 5-0 run over the next seven minutes, as Griffin scored twice and rookie Emma Malicki (Loudonville, N.Y.) added two goals and an assist during the spurt.  Trinity took its largest lead of the first half at 10-4 on a goal by freshman Clare Lyne (Concord, Mass.) from junior midfielder Lindsay Mullaney (Boston, Mass.) with 7:26 on the clock, but a 4-0 run by the Green Terror cut the Bantam lead to two goals with 5:37 left.  Griffin fed Timmons for a man-up Trinity goal with seven seconds left before the break, and the Bantams led, 12-9, at intermission.

Griffin tallied another assist in the opening minute of the second half, as junior attacker Renee Olsen (Ridgewood, N.J.) gave Trinity a 13-9 lead, but McDaniel scored three times in a row to close to within one at 13-12 at the 19:28 mark.  Trinity junior midfielder Caroline Hayes (Greenfield, N.H.) ignited a 7-0 run with a free-position goal and an unassisted tally less than a minute apart to put the game away.  Senior attacker Liz Heimann (Wyncote, Pa.) and rookie midfielder Nicole Stauffer (Cheshire, Conn.) netted a pair of goals apiece for Trinity in the final 10 minutes.

Cox and Hayes notched a hat trick plus an assist each, while Malicki finished with two goals and three assists.  Lyne dominated the draw with eight draw controls, while Griffin added four, and sophomore goalie Emily Mooney (New York, N.Y.) made six Bantam saves.  Danielle Entrot (Ellicott City, Md.) led all finishers with five goals and added one assist, while Barbeiro added two goals and three assists for the Green Terror.
