Vaughn Stars For Trinity Wrestling In Doug Parker Invitational
Springfield, Mass. - Freshman Greg Vaughan (Hingham, Mass.) won five matches, all by falls, in the heavyweight bracket, to finish fifth in his weight class, as the Trinity College Bantams recorded a 15th-place finish in the Doug Parker Wrestling Invitational at Springfield College this afternoon.
The young Bantam team totaled 30.5 points in the tournament. Freshman James Nelson (Malvern, Pa.) collected a win, needing just 1:18 to pin Ryan West of Springfield College in the first round of the 165-pound weight class. Sophomore Benjamin Speichler (Boston, Mass.) also won a match in the 165-pound weight class. Freshman Dwayne Sampson won a match in the 149-pound weight class consolation round, collecting a pin in 2:00. Vaughn won two rounds in the 285-bracket and three in the consolation round to secure fifth.
