Trinity Wrestling Splits Four Matches In NEWA Duals Championships
Springfield, Mass. - Senior tri-captain 141-pounder Jacob Gire (Union City, Calif.) won three matches by a combined score of 52-10 and pinned a fourth opponent, as the Trinity College Bantam wrestling team won two of its four matches in the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Duals Championships at Springfield College this afternoon. Trinity opened the day with a 29-16 loss to the host Springfield College Pride, but rebounded to defeat the United States Coast Guard Academy Bears, 26-18, and the Norwich University Cadets, 29-12, and earn a spot in the ninth-place match. Trinity dropped a 32-18 decision against the Plymouth State University Panthers to finish 10th of 14 teams in the event. The Bantam record is now 3-6. The teams in NEWA also ran a canned food drive at the Duals on Sunday.
