Gorham, Maine - The Trinity College wrestling team finished the day with 45 points to take seventh place at the Ted Reese Invitational on Saturday, hosted by Southern Maine University. After the weekend in Maine, the Bantams return to the mat on Friday, December 9, when they host New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) opponent Williams at 7 p.m.
Sophomore captain Grant Sorensen (Moore, Okla.) led the way for the Bantams, finishing the day 5-1 wrestling at 149-pounds, with his only loss coming to Southern Maine's Dan Del Gallo who is ranked No. 2 nationally. Sorensen earned two straight pins before a hard-fought, 5-3 victory in the fourth round sent him to a matchup against rookie teammate Lucas Kaminski (Hopkinton, Mass.). Kaminski, who had an impressive day with a 4-2 record including a fall and a technical fall, was pinned 2:20 into the match and finished in fifth-place while Sorensen won the third-place matchup. Sophomore Nolan Cornu (Hopkinton, Mass.) earned a pin and a 8-3 decision before battling in the fifth-place match.
