Rochester, N.Y. - Senior co-captain Grant Sorensen (Moore, Okla.) finished third at 157 to lead the Trinity College wrestling team to a tie for 11th-place at the RIT Invitational on Saturday. The Bantams totaled 42 team points along with New England College to finish tied for 11th while WPI won the team title with 139.5 points.
Sorensen went 4-1 on the day, falling in the semifinals to RIT's Kaidon Winters by a 3-2 decision. Sorensen finished the day with one pin and a major decision en route to his third-place finish. Elsewhere, senior John Anderson (Bridgewater, Mass.) picked up three victories on the day at 141. Anderson reached the quarterfinals where he fell to Keystone's Colby Bronzburg. Senior co-captain Jack Reilly (Andover, Mass.), junior Lukas Kaminski (Hopkinton, Mass.) and rookie Michael Fernandez Ravelo (Coral Gables, Fla.) all also picked up three victories as well. Reilly won three times at 165 while Kaminski picked up two major decisions and a fall at 157. Fernandez Ravello continued his strong start to the year with a pin and two decisions at 165.
The Bantams pick things back up on Friday, December 7, for their home-opening dual-match versus New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) rival, Williams College.
