Worcester, Mass. - The Trinity College women's rowing team varsity eight finished fifth in the grand final at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) National Invitational Regatta on Lake Quinsigamond this afternoon. The Bantam second- and third varsity eight crews each recorded third-place finishes, while the squad tied with New Hampshire for fifth place in the Overall Points Trophy Standings, and the Bantams took second in the Men's and Women's Overall Points Trophy Standings.
In the varsity eight grand final, Trinity posted a time of 6:56.39, which was 3.81 behind fourth-place Wellesley, and earned the Bantams third place in the New England Small College Athletic Conference Final Standings. The Bantams await the NCAA selections to see if they will be invited to the NCAA Regatta later this month in West Windsor, N.J. The Bantam third varsity was barely edged by that of the Bates Bobcats, crossing the line just .521 seconds later than second-place Bates.
Based on their fine performances in the ECAC Regatta, which also serves as the NESCAC Championship, senior co-captain Allison Friedlander (West Windsor, N.J.) was named to the All-ECAC Team and joined junior co-captain Robin Neschke (Still River, Mass.) on the All-NESCAC First Team, while Bantam sophomore Renee Swetz (Newton, Mass.) graced the All-NESCAC Second Team.
