Trinity's Howard and Ley Earn All-NESCAC Women's Soccer Honors


Bantam Rookies Ley and Howard Take All-League Honors

Hartford, Conn., Dec. 1 - Trinity College women's soccer freshman forward Jenny Ley (Warwick, R.I.) was selected as the 2008 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Rookie of the Year and to the All-NESCAC Women's Soccer Second Team, while fellow Bantam freshman forward Leigh Howard (Bethany, Conn.) also graced the All-NESCAC Second Team. 

The Trinity women's soccer squad, coached by Michael Smith (11th Season), posted a 9-6 overall record and a 4-5 mark in the NESCAC. The Bantam women fell, 2-0, at Middlebury in the opening round of the league tournament, making their second consecutive appearance in the post-season.

Ley started every game and led the team in scoring with eight goals (4th in NESCAC) and eight assists (2nd in NESCAC) for 24 points (4th in NESCAC) with 41 shots taken and a pair of game-winning goals.  A graduate of LaSalle Academy, she is the daughter of Janette and Chris Ley.

Howard played in every game with 14 starts and led the team in goals (3rd in NESCAC) with nine to go with two assists for 20 points.  She led the squad in shots with 56 and recorded two game-winning tallies.  A graduate of Amity High School, she is the daughter of Janice and Michael Howard.
