Trinity's Basile And Olsen Earn NESCAC All-Academic Honors For Women's Soccer
Hartford, Conn., July 7, 2009 - Trinity College women's soccer juniors Sarah Basile (North Granby, Conn.) and Lauren Olsen (Cheshire, Conn.) were each named to the 2008 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) All-Academic Team. Each student-athlete selected to the NESCAC All-Academic Team must be starter or key reserve for a varsity team and maintain at least a 3.35 grade-point average. Trinity, coached by Michael Smith (11th Season), posted a 9-6 overall record and a 4-5 mark in the NESCAC. The Bantam women fell, 2-0, at Middlebury in the opening round of the league tournament, making their second consecutive appearance in the post-season.
Olsen started every game in the midfield in 2008 and tallied a goal and two assists. A graduate of Cheshire High School, Olsen is majoring in mathematics at Trinity. She is the daughter of Eileen O'Regan and Michael Olsen. Basile played in five games in the Bantam midfield last fall. A graduate of Granby High School, Basile is majoring in Hispanic Studies and economics at Trinity. She is the daughter of Mary and Barry Basile.
