Trinity Women's Soccer Defeats Albertus Magnus

Hartford, Conn. - The Trinity College Bantams posted a 5-1 win over the visiting Albertus Magnus College Falcons in women's soccer action this afternoon. Trinity improves to 4-3-2, while the Falcons drop to 8-4-2.
Trinity scored four goals in the first half, while the backfield of senior tri-captain Caitlin Prendergast (Braintree, Mass.), junior Caroline Washburne (Medfield, Mass.), and sophomore Kristen Ramsey (Glastonbury, Conn.) held the Falcons without a shot before intermission. Senior tri-captain midfielder Lauren Olsen (Cheshire, Conn.) and sophomore forwards Leigh Howard (Bethany, Conn.) and Jenny Ley (Warwick, R.I.) provided the offense for the Bantams with four goals and four assists among them in the first 45 minutes.
The Falcons fought back in the second half, getting off 10 shots and having several hit the post or the cross bar and five saved by Bantam sophomore goalie Lily Pepper (Princeton Junction, N.J.). Trinity freshman forward Tory Jones (Wayland, Mass.) broke the second-half scoring drought with a goal in the 78th minute, while Falcon senior forward Krystal Quinones (Bridgeport, Conn.) lofted a ball over Pepper's outstretched arms with nine seconds left to avoid the shutout. Albertus goalies Christina Oddo (East Haven, Conn.) and Alicia Fernandez (Shelton, Conn.) combined for 12 stops in the game.
