Purchase, N.Y. – Senior co-captain forward Leigh Howard (Bethany, Conn.) had a goal and two assists to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 4-0 victory over the Manhattanville College Valiants in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's soccer action this evening. Trinity improves to 2-0 with its second straight win over Manhattanville, extending its unbeaten streak against them to five games. The Valiants drop to 0-6.
After a scoreless first half that included a 13-1 shot advantage for the Bantams, Howard crossed a pass to freshman Elisa Dolan (Bethesda, Md.) who found the back of the net to open the scoring with her first career tally 19 seconds into the second half. Howard fed classmate Katie Giberson (Valhalla, N.Y.) for another Bantam goal in the 51st minute, and scored an unassisted goal seven minutes later. Trinity rookie Samantha Metcalf (West Hartford, Conn.) later added her first career goal, converting on the second assist of the game for Bantam midfielder Martha Dane (Littleton, Mass.).
In goal, Trinity senior Lily Pepper (Princeton, N.J.) started the game for Trinity and made one save before making way for sophomore Midge Daniel (Wellesley, Mass.) who took over after halftime. Daniel picked up her first career win, making one save, while Valiant rookie keeper Bridget Miranda (Binghamton, N.Y.) had five stops.
