Trinity Women's Squash Falls Short In Upset Bid To Princeton In Howe Cup Semis


Cambridge, Mass. - Junior Kaitlin Sennatt (Greenwich, Conn.) eked out a 3-2 decision against junior co-captain Jo-Ann Jee (Kuching, Malaysia) in the clinching match to lead the Princeton University Tigers to a 5-4 win over the Trinity College Bantams in the semifinal round of the College Squash Association (CSA) National Championship (Howe Cup) Tournament this afternoon at Harvard University.  Trinity, seeded No. 4 in the tourney field, falls to 11-3 and will face No. 3-seeded Pennsylvania in the third-place match tomorrow at 2 p.m.  Top-seeded Princeton remains perfect for the year at 12-0 and faces No. 2-seeded Harvard tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the Howe Cup Finals.

Trinity juniors Tehani Guruge (Colombo, Sri Lanka) and Emily Paton (Victoria, British Columbia) each won by 3-1 scores, at No. 3 and No., respectively, to allow Trinity a fighting chance at 4-2 in Princeton's favor with three matches remaining.  Bantam freshman No. 1 Nour Bahgat (Cairo, Egypt) blanked Amanda Seibert to pull Trinity within one, but Sennatt edged Jee for the win shortly before Trinity sophomore Robyn Williams (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe) could pull out a 3-2 decision the No. 7 spot.  Maggie O'Toole (Short Hills, N.J.) posted a crucial 3-2 triumph against Trinity sophomore Emery Holton (Philadelphia, Pa.) for the Tigers.
