Trinity's Pelaez Falls In Quarterfinals Of National Women's Squash Singles Championships
Hanover, N.H. - Trinity College first-year Catalina Pelaez (Bogota, Colombia) lost, 11-9, 11-3, 11-6 against Yale's Millie Tomlinson in the quarterfinals of the College Squash Association (CSA) Women's Singles Championship Tournament (Ramsay Division) this afternoon at Dartmouth College. The Ramsay Division features the top 32-ranked individuals in the nation. Pelaez was the No. 2 seed in the field.
On Friday, Pelaez had won two matches to reach the quarters. Pelaez survived a five-setter against Harvard's Sarah Mumanachit in the opening round and downed Yale's Kim Hay in the second round. Bantam junior tri-captain Pamela Hathway (Munich, Germany), the CSA National Runner-Up last winter and the No. 5 seed this year, was upset in the second round by No. 12-seeded Rachel Goh, of Pennsylvania. Freshman Jennifer Pelletier (Richmond Hill, Ontario) lost in the opening round.
