Trinity's Rarere Wins Holleran Bracket Title At CSA National Women's Squash Singles Championships

Hanover, N.H. - First-year Lakeesha Rarere (Gold Coast, Australia) edged Madlen O'Connor, of Columbia, 11-8, 7-11, 6-11, 11-8, 11-3 in the finals of the Holleran East Bracket in the College Squash Association (CSA) National Singles Championships this afternoon at Dartmouth College.  The CSA National Singles Championships consists of five 16-player tournaments, the Ramsay Trophy "A" bracket and four "B" Holleran brackets.

In Ramsay Trophy action, Trinity junior Raneem Sharaf (Cairo, Egypt) won, 3-1, over Columbia's Tanvi Khanna in the opening round but lost, 3-0, against Pennsylvania's Marie Stephan in the quarterfinals.  In other Holleran bracket action, Bantam sophomore Jenny Haley (Newport, Wales) downed Dartmouth's Anne Blasberg, 3-0, in the quarterfinals before falling to Stanford's Zandra Ho, 3-1, in the semifinals. Rarere had won, 3-2, against Drexel's Anna Hughes and, 3-1, over Brown' Quincy Beck, to reach today's finals.
