Vassar Women's Swimming And Diving Edges Trinity

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. - The Vassar College Brewer 200-yard freestyle "A" relay team finished second in the final event of the day to secure a dual-meet win over the visiting Trinity College Bantams in women's swimming and diving action this afternoon. Trinity falls to 0-3 and the Brewers improve to 1-2. Both teams were competing in their first dual meets since November 22.
Trinity took first by 1.37 seconds and third in the 200-yard free relay, as senior captain Regina Lea (Allentown, Pa.), junior Emily Cote (Concord, Mass.), and first-years Theresa Flanagan (Marshfield, Wisc.) and Jenna Carroll (Stamford, Conn.) posted a winning time of 1:46.50. The Bantams closed the scoring gap to under 10 points but needed a 1-2-3 sweep of the event to tie the meet. Carroll also posted a first-place time of 57.77 in the 100-yard freestyle and Trinity sophomore Brooke Haynes (Franklin, Mass.) added a first-place performance of 2:19.86. Freshman Kate Bress (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) earned valuable points with first-place scores of 213.30 in the one-meter dive and 194.32 in the three-meter dive, respectfully, for Trinity.
