Haynes Breaks Three Records In The Pool For Trinity At NESCAC Championships

Brunswick, Maine - The Trinity College Bantam women's swimming and diving team finished in 11th place in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at Bowdoin College this weekend. Trinity had 330 points, while 10th-place Bates has 615 points and Williams won the meet at 1827.5.
Bantam sophomore Brooke Haynes (Franklin, Mass.) set four new Trinity records in the three days. Haynes set a new College record in the 200-yard individual medley on Friday with a time of 2:13.39 that eclipsed the previous mark by almost three seconds. On Saturday, Haynes broke the College's 11-year-old, 100-yard butterfly record with a time of 1:00.61, and bested her own previous Trinity record in the 400-yard individual medley with a 10th-place time in the finals of 4:40.44. On the final day of the Championships, Haynes broke the College record in the 200-yard butterfly, finishing 14th with a time of 2:10.66. In all, 11 Trinity athletes scored points in the meet with top-24 finishes and 31 personal records, 47 college-career bests, and 60 season-best times were set this weekend.
