Trinity Women's Swimming And Diving Opens Year With Victory At Hamilton

Clinton, N.Y. - Senior Eliza Maciag (West Hartford, Conn.) won both backstroke events and first-year Brooke Hendee (Wilton, Conn.) swept the breaststroke to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a season-opening 151-142 victory over the Hamilton College Continentals in a women's swimming and diving dual meet this afternoon.  Trinity avenges a 194-point loss to the Continentals last season, as 14 of 16 team members scored points.  Trinity hosts Bates in its home opener tomorrow at noon, which will be immediately preceded by a Team IMPACT ceremony where a new team member will officially join the Bantam squad.

"Overall I am incredibly proud of how our team competed today," said Trinity Head Coach Carlos Vega. "A meet this close comes down to the last few events and we learned just how tough are team is down the stretch."

Two other Trinity first-years debuted with winning performances, as Nina Tzianabos (Reading, Mass.) won the 50-yard freestyle and Audrey Ettinger (New Canaan, Conn.) took first in the 200-yard individual medley.  Senior Blair Frantz (Montclair, N.J.) added a first-place performance in the 1,000-yard freestyle.  Maciag, Hendee, Ettinger and first-year Julia Albino (Southbury, Conn.) got Trinity off to a 13-4 lead with a first-place time in the meet-opening 200-yard medley relay.
