Trinity Women's Swimming And Diving Bests Brandeis

 Hartford, Conn. – Senior Eliza Maciag (West Hartford, Conn.) won both backstroke races and first-year Nina Tzianabos (Reading, Mass.) won the 50- and 100-yard freestyle races, while the duo also combined with senior co-captain Brenna Weber (New Orleans, La.) and first-year Brooke Hendee (Wilton, Conn.) to take first in the 400-yard freestyle relay, as the Trinity College Bantams returned to women's swimming and diving action with a 156-114 victory over the visiting Brandeis University Judges this evening at Trinity Natatorium.  Trinity shakes off a 34-day break from varsity competition to even its season record to 2-2 in dual meets, while the Judges drop to 2-8 with their third consecutive setback.

Brandeis led, 11-6, after winning the 200-yard medley relay and the teams were knotted a 26-all after three events, before the Bantams took 15 of 19 points in the 100-yard backstroke and led the rest of the way.  Maciag won the 100-yard back by .60 seconds with a time of 1:03.85 and the 200-yard backstroke at 2:16.99, while Tzianabos won the 50-yard free at 25.94 and the 100-yard free at 56.80.  Weber added a first-place time of 1:01.90 in the 100-yard butterfly, while rookie Katrina Trentos (Wilton, Conn.) won the 1,000-yard free with a time of 11:33.47 and freshman Audrey Ettinger (New Canaan, Conn.) won the 200-yard IM at 2:20.96 for the Bantams.  Trinity's 400-yard free relay foursome won by over four seconds at 3:54.46.
