Justin Anderson enters his second season
as the assistant coach of the men’s and women’s
swimming and diving teams. In his first season, Anderson
helped coach the Bantams to 114 personal best times, 11 new varsity
records and six first-year records. Prior to Trinity, Anderson
spent five months thru-hiking all 2,179 miles of the Appalachian
Trail from Mount Katahdin in Maine to Springer Mountain in Georgia.
A 2010 graduate of the University of Mary Washington, Anderson
served as an assistant at his alma mater in 2010-11 where he
coached some of the top athletes at the Division III national
level. Two Anderson-coached swimmers qualified for the 2011 NCAA
championship meet and each garnered All-American honors and
finished among the top ten in the nation.
Anderson competed as a sprint/middle-distance freestyler,
breaststroker, and IM’er at Mary Washington, where he earned
a bachelor’s degree in English. He was a two-time Scholar
All-American for the Eagles, and the Mary Washington and Capital
Athletic Conference Male Scholar Athlete of The Year in 2010. Also
a captain, four-year letter winner, 22-time all-conference
performer, and team MVP, Anderson gained NCAA
Championship-qualifying standards three times during his career.
Anderson is currently working towards a master’s degree in
English in writing, rhetoric, and media arts at Trinity.
