Driscoll and Meckler Close Fine Women's Tennis Careers At Trinity

Hartford, Conn., August 13, 2008 - The Trinity College women's
tennis team, coached by Wendy Bartlett (24th
Season), finished the 2007-08 season with a 10-6 dual
match record and with the seventh-best record in the New England
Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) at 3-4.
Juniors Sarah Gould (Longmeadow, Mass.) and
Amanda Tramont (Miami, Fla.) tied for the team
lead in winning percentage with identical 9-4 records (.692), while
senior co-captain Brenna Driscoll (Milton, Mass.)
recorded a team-high 13 wins against six singles losses, sophomore
Olivia Merns (New York, N.Y.) was 11-5 in singles,
and senior co-captain Sydney Meckler (San Francisco,
Calif.) posted a 9-6 singles mark. Freshmen
Jillian Steckloff (Framingham, Mass.) was 7-6 in
her rookie campaign, while classmate Arielle Leben (New
York, N.Y.) finished 8-11, and fellow first-year
Robyn Williams (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe) went
3-4.
In doubles, the Meckler/Williams duo led the team with an 8-1
record, Driscoll finished, 7-5, with Tramont and, 5-4, with
Williams, and Steckloff finished 3-3 with both Merns and Leben as
her partner. Gould and Leben posted a 3-5 mark as a doubles
tandem.
Driscoll earned All-NESCAC Second Team honors in singles and was
named to the NESCAC All-Sportsmanship Team, while Gould and Tramont
graced both the NESCAC All-Academic Team and the Intercollegiate
Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar Athlete list. In her
excellent career on the courts, Driscoll was 47-25 in singles (3rd
most wins all-time at Trinity) and 30-38 in doubles with several
partners. She was an all-league honoree in singles twice and
doubles once. Meckler closes here fine career with a 21-25
singles record and an 18-23 doubles mark with several partners.
