Trinity Women's Tennis Co-Captains Receive NESCAC All-Academic Recognition
Hartford, Conn., August 31, 2009 - Trinity College women's tennis senior co-captains Sarah Gould (Longmeadow, Mass.) and Amanda Tramont (Miami, Fla.) were each selected to the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) 2009 Spring All-Academic Team. In addition, Gould and women's sophomore Robyn Williams (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe) were selected as Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar Athletes. Each NESCAC All-Academic honoree must be varsity letterwinner and maintain at least a 3.35 cumulative grade-point average, and each ITA Scholar Athlete must maintain a 3.50 g.p.a. for the stated academic year.
Trinity, coached by Wendy Bartlett (25th Season), finished the 2008-09 season with a 12-6 overall record and a 3-3 mark in the NESCAC, qualifying for the league championship tournament for the second time in three years. The Bantams earned the No. 6 seed in the league tourney but lost at Middlebury, 5-1, in the NESCAC First Round. The team finished ranked No. 10 in the ITA Division III Northeast Regional Poll.
Gould posted a 14-10 singles record and Tramont was 11-11, while the pair combine for a 10-9 doubles record playing together. Both two-time NESCAC All-Academic honorees, they recorded identical 43-28 career singles marks and finished 24-17 as a doubles tandem over the last four years. Gould finished 28-31 in doubles for her career, while Tramont was 40-29 in doubles for her career (2nd all-time at Trinity), earned All-NESCAC honors in doubles in 2007, and finished second all-time at the College in combined singles and doubles victories with 83. Williams posted Trinity's top singles record in 2008-09 at 14-2 and added an 11-5 doubles mark. Gould is an alum of Longmeadow High School and graduated from Trinity in May with a degree in public policy & law at Trinity. She is the daughter of Connie and Tom Gould. Tramont is an alum of Gulliver Preparatory School and graduated from the College in May with a degree in political science with a Hispanic Studies concentration. She is the daughter of Susan and Andrew Tramont. Williams is an alum of Girls' College in Zimbabwe and is the daughter of Sheila and Trefor Williams.
