Trinity Women's Tennis Loses At Texas-Tyler On Final Match
Tyler, Texas - Junior Brittany Ude (Corpus Christi, Texas) won the deciding match at No. 4 singles to lead the University of Texas-Tyler Patriots to a 5-4 win over the visiting Trinity College Bantams in women's tennis action this afternoon. Trinity falls to 3-1, while the Patriots, ranked No. 8 in the West Region, improve to 10-5 with their first win in five matches.
The Patriots led, 2-1, after doubles play, but Bantam senior co-captain Amanda Tramont (Miami, Fla.) and sophomore Robyn Williams (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe) won in straight sets at the top and bottom of the singles lineup, respectively, and Trinity junior Olivia Merns (New York, N.Y.) pulled out a three-setter at fifth singles to even the match at 4-4. Ude downed Bantam sophomore Jillian Steckloff (Framingham, Mass.), 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) to give the win to the home team.
