Trinity Women's Tennis Handed Narrow Loss By Brandeis

Hartford, Conn. - The Trinity College Bantams suffered a 5-4 loss against the visiting Brandeis University Judges in women's tennis action this afternoon.  Trinity falls to 3-6 with its second loss in a row, while the Judges improve to 7-8 with their first win over the Bantams since 2007-08. Trinity led, 4-2, heading into the final three matches, as the match was forced indoors.

Trinity trailed, 2-1, after doubles play, as the squads split 8-3 decisions in the first two matches that were decided. Trinity's junior duo of Morgan Feldman (Upper Brookville, N.Y.) and Melita Ferjanic (Samobor, Croatia) won at No. 1, but the Judges won at No. 3, 8-3, and at No. 2, 9-7.

Playing indoors on three courts, the top three singles matches went first, and the Bantams swept all three to take their 4-2 lead. Trinity first-year Vanja Babunski (Belgrade, Serbia) rolled to a 6-0, 6-1, at No. 3 to tie the match, while Ferjanic defeated senior Carley Cooke (San Diego, Calif.) at No. 1, and Feldman topped rookie Haley Cohen (Cherry Hill, N.J.) by the same score at No. 2 to put the home team within one point of victory.  Brandeis won all three of the final singles matches in straight sets to steal the win.
