Trinity's Babunski Qualifies As Alternate For NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Singles Championships

Hartford, Conn. - Trinity College junior tri-captain Vanja Babunski (Belgrade, Serbia) has been chosen as an alternate for the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Singles Championships to take place May 22 to May 24 at The Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tenn.  Babunski will find out if she will be playing in next week's tournament later this week.

For the individual championships, the national committee selects seven singles players and three doubles teams from each of the four regions. Additionally, the committee would then select the remaining four singles players and four doubles team berths from a national at-large pool. The individual championships shall consist of 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams. The selection of teams and individuals for the championships is based on win-lost record, strength of schedule and eligibility and availability of student-athletes.

Babunski posted a 9-6 record this spring at the the top of the Trinity singles ladder and has a 24-11 career singles mark.  She was also 8-7 in doubles this season in her third season as a singles and doubles starter for the Bantams.  Trinity, coached by Lori Shulman (3rd Season), was 6-9 in dual matches in 2016-17 and 1-6 in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) this spring.
