Brade and Komarek Break Records for Trinity Women's Track in 2007-08


Hartford, Conn., August 22, 2008 - The Trinity College women's indoor and outdoor track and field teams, both coached by George Suitor (16th Season), finished 14th in the New England Division III Indoor Championships, 10th in the NESCAC Outdoor Championships, and 15th in the New England Division III Outdoor Championships. 

In the sprints, sophomore Jessica Tait (North Salem, N.Y.) posted a time of 8.04 in the 55 meters, classmate Amelia Shister (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) ran a 13.25 in the 100 meters, and senior Rhenita Brade (Bronx, N.Y.) and Shister recorded times of 27.22 and 28.05, respectively, in the 200 meters.  Brade set a new College record of 57.75 and earned All-ECAC honors in the 400 meters, and freshman Casey Armstrong (Medfield, Mass.) ran a 1:04.53 in the women's 400 meters.

Junior Alison Lemire (East Hartford, Conn.) posted a 1:42.34 in the 600 meters, a 2:16.81 in the 800 meters, and a 3:01.47 in the 1,000 meters, while senior tri-captain Amanda Williams (San Jose, Calif.) ran a 2:20.60 in the 800 meters and a 5:08.46in the mile, and senior tri-captain Kristina Miner (Suffield, Conn.) ran a 3:01.50 in the 1,000 meters and a 4:53.01 in the 1,500 meters.  Lemire and Miner took All-ECAC indoor honors in the 1,000 meters and both were NESCAC All-Academic selections, while Williams represented the Trinity women on the NESCAC All-Sportsmanship Team.  Brade, Miner , and Williams were three parts of Trinity's All-American indoor distance medley relay foursome in 2005, and Miner added an All-American performance in the 800 meters in 2005 and in the distance medley relay in 2004.  Miner, who holds the Trinity women's 800-meter record of 2:13.94, was named Trinity's Senior Female Athlete of the Year and was awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship this spring.

In the distance events, sophomore Kate Barton (Englewood, Colo.) and senior Caroline Brown (Belmont, Mass.) ran 3,000-meter times of 11:11.76 and 11:19.17, respectively, while Miner added a 5,000-meter time of 17:55.73 to her impressive resume, and Barton finished the distance in 18:32.26. 

Senior tri-captain Amanda White (Wareham, Mass.) posted times of 8.35 in the 55-meter hurdles and 14.64 in the 100-meter hurdles, while sophomore Thea Curtis (Marblehead, Mass.) cleared a height of 5'05.25" in the high jump, and junior Hae Sol Han (Seoul, South Korea) leapt a distance of 14'05.75" in the long jump.  White was an All-New England and an All-ECAC selection in the 55-meter hurdles and an All-NESCAC, All-New England, and All-New England Open selection in the 100-meter hurdles.  She qualified for the 2008 NCAA Division III National Championships in both events, and finishes her career having earned All-American honors in the 100-meter hurdles, and having set new College records in the 55-meter hurdles (8.47) and the 100-meter hurdles (14.57). 

Freshman Laura Komarek (Plymouth, Minn.) tossed the shot put a College-record 40'01.50", and the discus a College-record 126'04.00", while classmates Rachel Lynch (Enfield, N.H.) and Monete Johnson (Dorchester, Mass.) added heaves of 102'07" in the hammer and 38'03.75", in the shot put, respectively.  Komarek earned All-NESCAC and All-New England and All-ECAC outdoor in the shot put and All-New England in the discus throw.
