Trinity's Ciarleglio Competes In Javelin Throw At NCAA Championships Thursday

Hartford, Conn., May 19, 2009 - Trinity College women's outdoor track and field freshman Sarah Ciarleglio (Waterbury, Conn.) has qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championship Meet at Marietta College in Ohio and will compete in the javelin throw on Thursday, May 21.  The Bantams, coached by George Suitor, finished 15th in the New England Division III Championships at Springfield.

Ciarleglio qualified in the event with a College-record-breaking toss of 141'04.00" that won her the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championship title in late April.  The throw, which is the seventh-best top distance of the 19 entrants in Thursday's event, shattered the Trinity record of previous years by more than 28 feet.  Also this spring, Ciarleglio won New England Division III javelin throw with a heave of 136'11" and came in third place in the New England Open championship Meet at 137'09".
