Throwing Records Fall For Trinity Women At Coast Guard Track Meet
New London, Conn. - Sophomore Laura Komarek (Plymouth, Minn.) set a new College record to take first place in the shot put (41'02.25") and added a first-place heave in the discus (119'09"), leading the Trinity College Bantam women to fifth place in the United States Coast Guard Academy Outdoor Track and Field Invitational Meet this afternoon. Trinity finished with 76 points to edge Coast Guard by one and Rhode Island College won the meet with 135 points.
Bantam senior co-captain Alison Lemire (East Hartford, Conn.) came in second place in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:58.18, and freshman Sarah Ciarleglio (Waterbury, Conn.) placed second in the javelin throw with a toss of 120'07" that broke the College record she set last week by 2'06". Trinity sophomore Monete Johnson (Dorchester, Mass.) finished just behind Komarek in the shot put with a second-place distance of 37'08.75" and added a third-place heave of 106'04" in the hammer throw.
