Trinity's Ciarleglio Wins NESCAC Javelin Title, Rookie Of The Year Award

New London, Conn. - Freshman Sarah Ciarleglio (Waterbury, Conn.) set a new College record to take first place in the javelin throw, as the Trinity College Bantams finished 11th in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championship Meet this afternoon at Connecticut College. Trinity finished with 20 points, which was three points shy of 10th-place Connecticut College. Williams won the meet with 180 points.
Ciarleglio shattered a record she had set earlier this spring by 20'04" with her throw of 141'04", which was the sixth-best performance in all of NCAA Division III this season and qualifies her provisionally for the NCAA Division III Championship Meet next Month. Trinity sophomore Laura Komarek (Plymouth, Minn.) added a second-place heave of 41'05.00", also a Bantam record, in the shot put. Ciarleglio was named the NESCAC Rookie Performer of the Year and both Ciarleglio and Komarek earned All-NESCAC recognition for their fine efforts. Senior co-captain Alison Lemire (East Hartford, Conn.) was selected to represent Bantam women's track and field on the NESCAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
