Trinity Dominates Relays At Silfen Women's Outdoor Track And Field Invitational
New London, Conn. - The Trinity College relay quartets won both the 4x100- and 4x400-meter races to lead the Bantams to fifth place as a team in the Silfen Women's Outdoor Track and Field Invitational at Connecticut College this afternoon.
In the 4x100-meters, junior Caroline Healy (Winnetka, Ill.), sophomores Tanya Nongera (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe) and Julia Rubano (Madison, Conn.), and freshman Jenna Wilborne (New Haven, Conn.) posted a time of 50.26, which was .65 seconds faster than the second-place team from Connecticut College. Healy also teamed with sophomores Sarah Ballinger (Scituate, Mass.) and Julianne McDonough (Peabody, Mass.) and rookie Elizabeth Lyons (Pembroke, Mass.) to win the 4x400-meters by 1.41 seconds at 4:14.69, and added a fourth-place time of 27.55 in the 200-meter dash. Bantam first-year Mary Daly (Madison, Wisc.) earned second place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:25.05, just .13 seconds behind the winner, while McDonough and Nongera were third in the 400-meter dash at 1:02.94 (New England Open qualifying time) and 13.12 seconds, respectively.
