Springfield, Mass. - Sophomore Anna Barnes (Storrs, Conn.) bested the field in the 1000-meter run by more than 15 seconds, sophomore Caroline Sullivan (South Hadley, Mass.) claimed first in the 3000-meter run, and a trio of Bantams claimed the top-three places in the mile-run in a dominant day of running for the Trinity College women's indoor track and field team on Saturday at the Massasoit Invitational at Springfield College.
Trinity rookie Katherine Marlow-Benedick (Weston, Mass.) scored second in the 200-meter dash with a finals time of 27.34, followed by senior Katie Tonyai (Jaffrey, N.H.) who finished at 27.62, good for fifth place. Tonyai and first-year Katie Lazur (East Hanover, N.J.) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 400-meter dash for Trinity as well.
Sophomore Lauren Barrett (Peabody, Mass.), junior Briana Daley (Oak Park, Ill.) and rookie Grace Harrison (Montclair, N.J.) claimed first, second and third, respectively, in the mile-run in a race dominated by Trinity.
The Bantams return to action for their second race of the semester when they travel to Wesleyan next weekend for the Wesleyan invitational.
