Middletown, Conn. - Sophomore Anna Barnes (Storrs, Conn.) bested the field in the 800-meter run by eight seconds to lead the Trinity College women's indoor track and field team as it competed at the Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday, hosted by the Cardinals in Middletown. Trinity returns to action next Friday at the Boston University Valentine Invitational.
Barnes' first place time is the second in as many weeks for the sophomore as she claimed first place in the 1,000-meter run at last weekend's Massasoit Invitational at Springfield College. Senior Katie Tonyai (Jaffrey, N.H.) took third in the 60-meter dash with a finals time of 8.26 seconds and also finished third in the 200-meter dash in a race where the top-three times were separated by less than .40 seconds. Sophomore Caroline Sullivan (South Hadley, Mass.) placed third in the mile-run as she crossed the finish line just two seconds off the first place time. Junior Briana Daley (Oak Park, Ill.) and rookies Grace Harrison (Montclair, N.J.) and Samantha Feenstra (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 3,000-meter run for the Bantams.
