Williamstown, Mass. - The Trinity College women's track and field team finished tied for 13th out of 32 teams at the New England Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships over the weekend at Williams College. The Bantams, led by multiple All-New England efforts, finished with 18 points, just three away from a top-ten finish, and two more than No. 15-place Smith College.
Bantam rookie Katie Marlow-Benedick (Weston, Mass.) continued her success this spring, placing fourth in the 200-meter dash for five points, and seventh in the 100-meter run as she finished with a finals time of 12.24, just .04 seconds off the fourth-place time, to earn All-New England honors in both events. Sophomore Anna Barnes (Storrs, Conn.) also turned in an All-New England performance with a 4:37.33 finals time in the 1,500-meter run. Trinity's 4x100-meter relay team, made up of Marlow-Benedick, senior captain Katie Tonyai (Jaffrey, N.H.), sophomore Morgan Hallow (Charlotte, N.C.) and first-year Katie Lazur (East Hanover, N.H.) finished fifth, exactly one second behind the top-foursome, earning All-New England honors, as well as re-breaking the College record. First-year Peace Kabari (Manchester, N.H.) continued her impressive rookie campaign with a fourth-place finish in the shot put, tossing 12.53 meters in the finals, just .40 meters behind the top distance.
