Trinity Women's Outdoor Track And Field Takes Second At Amherst Spring Fling

Amherst, Mass. - First-year Katherine Marlow-Benedick (Weston, Mass.) won the 100- and 200-meter dash to lead the Trinity College Bantams to second place in the team standings at the Amherst College Spring Fling Women's Outdoor Track and Field Invitational this afternoon. Marlow-Benedick won the 100-meter dash by .14 seconds and edged second-place senior teammate Katie Tonyai (Jaffrey, N.H.) by .08 seconds in the 200 meters to help the Bantams total 60 points.  Worcester Tech won the title with 97.5 points.

Tonyai's performance was one of five second-place finishes for the Bantams, including two by sophomore Anna Barnes (Storrs, Conn.) who posted runner-up times of 2:19.82 in the 800 meters and 4:45.13 in the 1,500 meters.  Rookie Peace Kabari (Manchester, N.H.) was second in the shot put with a distance of 38'00.25"and first-year Devan Walsh (Danvers, Mass.) was second in the javelin throw at 127'00" to highlight the field events for Trinity.  Tonyai added a third-place finish in the 400 meters, and Lauren Barrett (Peabody, Mass.) was third in the 5,000-meter run.
