La Crosse, Wis. - Trinity sophomore Peace Kabari (Manchester, N.H.) finished 17th in the shot put with a distance of 13.18m to finish as the top performer in the entire New England region at the 2018 NCAA Division III Women's Outdoor Track and Field National Championships on Friday in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Kabari tossed 13.18, 43' 3", on her second heave of the day, just .59 meters behind her qualifying distance of 45'02.25" (13.77 m) in the MIT Last Chance Meet on Thursday, in which she shattered her own Trinity record by nearly two feet. The top distance came from Brockport State senior Victoire Kothor who tossed an impressive 15.88m to win the championship by nearly four feet. This spring, Kabari won the NESCAC shot put title, and finished third in the New England Division III Championship Meet.
"Peace had an amazing season," says Associate Head Coach John Michael Mason. "I'm excited to see how she continues to progress with Coach Goulet moving forward. This was a good first experience at Nationals -- she will be back representing Trinity at the highest level next year."
