Trinity Volleyball To Host Tournament In Support of Breast Cancer Awareness

Bantam Match Against Bates Will Be Webcast Live on Teamline

Hartford, Conn. - The Trinity College volleyball team will "pink out" the Ray Oosting Gymnasium, collecting donations for the Side Out Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to boosting breast cancer awareness, on October 17-18 at a six-team, New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Volleyball Quad.  Trinity is currently 9-8 overall and 1-4 in the NESCAC.  Trinity will open the weekend on Friday, Oct. 17 at 6 p.m. against Bates College and that game will be webcast live at   http://www.teamline.cc/sportpage?teamcode=2055&eventcode=45

The team has been collecting donations and will be selling a limited number of pink t-shirts at the tournament. So far, the campaign has raised more than $1,000.  The goal is to raise $3,000.

"Almost all of us have felt the effects of breast cancer either through friends or family," Jen Bowman, head volleyball coach at Trinity, said.  It can be a devastating disease.  We are happy to do our part to help out a great cause and hopefully help to put an end to cancer."

Bates College, Bowdoin College, Colby College, Connecticut College, and Wesleyan University are joining Trinity's effort to spread awareness, and will be participating in the tournament.  Each team ordered pink warm-up tee-shirts for the game.

"I thought our NESCAC weekend would be a great time to get the other NESCAC schools involved and get everyone thinking about a cause bigger than all of us," Bowman added.  "We hope it will be a great weekend."
