Volleyball Players Take Both of Trinity's Top Scholar Athlete Awards
Hartford, Conn. - Senior MH Kelly O'Brien (Pelham, N.Y.) and junior OH Danielle Isaman (West Hartford, Conn.) were selected as Trinity's Senior Female Scholar Athlete of the Year (Susan E. Martin Award) and Junior Female Scholar Athlete of the Year (Board of Fellows Award), respectively, at the annual Trinity Athletics Award Ceremony.
The pair also joined four other Trinity volleyball players were on the 2011 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Fall All-Academic Team, while the Bantam squad was selected as both a New England Women's Volleyball Association (NEWVA) Academic Team and an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award recipient. O'Brien, seniors Sarah Blagden (Charleston, S.C.), Courtney Chaloff (Newton, Mass.), and Alexandra Pell (San Diego, Calif.), Isaman, and sophomore Hannah Brickley (Melrose, Mass.) each graced the NESCAC All-Academic Team for maintaining a 3.35 cumulative g.p.a. Each NEWVA Academic Team recorded a 3.30 g.p.a. for the 2011 fall semester, while AVCA Team Academic Award recipients must maintain a 3.30 cumulative g.p.a. as a team.
