Hartford, Conn. - The Trinity College volleyball team fell to the Tufts University Jumbos, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon at Oosting Gymnasium in Hartford. The Bantams, who lost by set scores of 25-16, 25-14 and 25-19, fall to 6-8 overall and 0-6 in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) play while Tufts improves to 13-4 on the year and remain perfect at 7-0 in league play. Trinity returns to action next Friday, October 13th, at Williams for a 8 p.m. match.
Tufts was led offensively by Sophia Acker (La Jolla, Calif.), who tallied 11 kills, and Mackenzie Bright (Duxbury, Mass.) who finished with eight. Angela Yu (Austin, Texas) paced the Jumbos with 20 assists and added three aces while Alexandra Garrett (Allendale, N.J.) also served a trio of aces. Trinity was led by Colette Scheffers (Flossmoor, Ill.) and junior co-captain Rachel Underwood (Danville, Calif.) who combined for 12 kills. Underwood also had an ace and nine digs while rookie Ali Oderman (Lenexa, Kansas) added nine digs as well. Sophomore Wyllie Boughton (Andover, Mass.) also added a pair of blocks for the hosts.
