Jen Bowman enters her sixth season as head coach of the Trinity College volleyball team. The 2003 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Coach of the Year, Bowman has guided Trinity to five winning seasons, including a 13-12 mark last fall. Bowman, who has led the Bantams to three of the last four NESCAC Championship Tournaments and the league semifinals in 2005, is 78-50 at Trinity after compiling a 177-50 record in six years as the head volleyball coach at Frostburg State University and Bates College. With a .718 winning percentage, Bowman is the 19th winningest coach in NCAA Div. III history with at least 10 years experience. She also serves as an assistant softball coach and as a physical education instructor in the Trinity athletic department.
Bowman won over 71 percent of her matches in four years at NESCAC rival Bates, including a 31-9 mark and an appearance in the NCAA Division III Championship Regional Finals in 2000. In four years, Bowman guided Bates to four NESCAC Championship Semifinals and two NESCAC Finals.
A widely respected coach, Bowman has served on a number of American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) committees. She currently serves on the Division III Head Coaches Committee. Bowman is also a graduate of the NCAA Women's Coaches Academy.
Bowman did her undergraduate work at Salisbury University and
received a bachelor's degree in geography in 1997. A four-time
all-conference and a two-time all-region volleyball and softball
player at Salisbury, Bowman earned her master's degree in
post-secondary education from Salisbury in 2004. She was
inducted into the Salisbury Athletics Hall of Fame in 2007.
Head Coach Caitlin Hitchcock begins her eighth season as the head coach of the Trinity softball team, after guiding the Bantams to a 14-win season in 2009. The Bantams have posted winning records of four of the last five seasons and are a consistent contender for the NESCAC Championship. Trinity has earned a berth to the league playoff tournament in four of the last five seasons. Hitchcock is 95-90-1 in her six seasons as Bantam head coach.
Hitchcock was an assistant coach at the College in softball in 2001 and 2002 and has been an assistant with the volleyball squad for the past eight years. Hitchcock also serves as a physical education instructor in the Trinity athletic department. In addition, she was an assistant coach for the Bantam women's basketball team in 2001 and 2002.
Hitchcock earned her bachelor's degree from Trinity in
educational studies and her master's degree from the College in
American studies. She starred as an all-league catcher for the
Bantam softball squad and served as captain of the softball and
basketball teams in her senior season.
