Trinity Women's Cross Country Hosts Invitational To Open 2009 Season
Hartford, Conn. - The Trinity College women's cross country squad, coached by George Suitor (18th Season), is steadily improving and on its way back to the program's national prominence of the not-so-distant past. The Bantams were the 2003 NCAA Division III National Runner-up and finished 13th at Nationals in 2002, and are ready to contend in the NESCAC and the New England region this fall. The Bantams open the 2009 season by hosting the Trinity Invitational at Wickham Park in Manchester on Saturday, September 12 at 10:30 a.m.
The Bantams have several young runners who gained valuable varsity experience as rookies last fall, including Reagan Aylmers (Moweaqua, Ill.) and Katlin Mock (Albany, N.Y.), while senior co-captains Kate Barton (Denver, Colo.) and Giselle Harrington (Warner, N.H.) are seasoned veterans. All four ran well in last season's New England Championship Meet and hope to improve both their individual performances and the team's overall finish in 2008.
Sophomore Jehanne Hill (Lexington, Mass.) showed promise as a rookie despite an injury, while classmates Anna Grindy (Decatur, Ill.), Dana Pollock (Brewster, N.Y.), and Archana Vamathevan (Amherst, Mass.) will compete with an excellent freshman class for the remaining spots in the varsity lineup.
