Gorham, Maine – Senior co-captain Briana Daley (Oak Park, Ill.) finished 48th overall with a time of 22:28.7 over 6,000 meters to lead the Trinity College Bantams to 11th place as a team in the NCAA Division III New England Women’s Cross Country Championship Meet at Gorham Country Club this afternoon. Trinity’s score of 316 was just five shy of 10th-place Worcester Tech and 38 34 better than the 12th-place Bowdoin College Polar Bears in a field of 56 teams, while MIT won the team title with 58 points. Trinity improved its team place two spots from last year. The event is the final race of the 2017 women’s cross country season for the Bantams.
Daley was 2:06 seconds behind Coast Guard’s Kaitlyn Mooney in first place, less than two seconds shy of 47th-place, and 1.5 seconds faster than the 49th-place runner. She was also 46 places and just about 50 seconds faster than in the same event a year ago. Trinity sophomore Grace Harrison (Montclair, N.J.) added an 53rd-place time of 22:33.5, classmate Samantha Feenstra (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) was 58th at 22:37.2. Senior co-captain Hannah Ells (Amesbury, Mass.) concluded her career with an 80th-place time of 23:04.9 and sophomore Nina Bourgeois (Rochester, Mass.) was 82nd at 23:06.1.
